Here are the scale models with the numbers:

New Wheel Designs

Hi all! Today we started on our wheels. We used the duct tape and changed our design. Instead of using cross-sections, we glued cardboard circles on either side of the tape and will stick a rod through the boards. Now we just need the rods... they must be 38 cm each.

DEAD ZONE

I'm in DEAD ZONE (no Internet). I'll try to post the scale models ASAP. Thanks for the patience,
-Roni

Instruments

W have news: all of our instruments will be hidden behind flaps. We will have a representation, behind doors, in the form of a picture, but an actual instrument will not be visible.

-Roni, Romi, and Tal

Wheels

We have come up with a basic plan for our wheels. There will be a rod through the center, connecting the wheels. (NOTE: THIS IS NOT TO SCALE AND ONLY A ROUGH SKETCH)

SLOGAN!

Slogan

Today, our group came up with a slogan.
It is, "To Venus and beyond!"

KG Participarion

Ok, so I got some  blank stickers that are each about the size of two name-tags. I printed our one of them with our beautiful logo and the rest are for the KG's to create. I'll post some more photos when i have an example.

Sneak Peak

I have been working day and night (not really but it is really hard to figure it out) creating our scale model of the RAY. It's not ready quite but here is a photo of we started with:

This ordinary looking cube is actually a exact scale model of the box we have in class. After working some more we see this:

A little more snazzy right? Well the final product should look like this:
Well if we don't know then you defiantly don't know either. I guess we'll just have to wait and see!

Scale

Since our scale is 1:3, I was thinking we could use a yardstick for our Pancam,
or maybe a couple rulers glued together. I believe it would be within our
budget to buy this. Please tell me what you guys think and notify me as soon
as possible.
Thanks!

Duct Tape

Hi! Today we bought duct tape to use as our wheels (see previous posts for more info.)
The diameter is 10.5 centimeters, and we will have four of them on our rover.

METAL

Hi guys!
We have, after careful consideration, chosen our metal (see options in our previous posts). We have chosen DURIMET 20.

Our Two Possible Metals

We have narrowed down the choices of non-corrosive, heat resistant materials to these two metals:

Durimet 20: A metal with excellent resistance to the corrosiveness of Sulfuric Acid and can withstand up to 2050 degrees Fahrenheit.

Hastelloy B-3: A metal also resistant to Sulfuric Acid that can withstand up to 2100 degrees Fahrenheit.

Wheels?

Hey guys! I think I may have found us wheels (for the model). Duck Tape seems perfect!
it is about 2 cm thick, but I have yet to find the roll's diameter, which will be the determining factor.
I think the diameter would be best at 8 cm or so--maybe 9. They are also $3, which, times 4, is $2 over our budget...  What do you think?

-Romi

What do you think?

I created a logo for our Venus Rover. Tell me what you think...
P.S. We still need to choose a name so it will be filled in accordingly.

Scale Models

Today in class we worked on scale models. We measured the size of the box/base and started the scale model on my computer. Mr. Sniedman helped us calculate the ratio.

Class Work

Today we did some more research for the types of instruments that we would want on our rover. It was a challenge for us because we needed to find material that could not only withstand Venus's absurd temperature (900° F), but that is also non-corrosive. For more info on all these materials, check out our Mission Statement Page. Also look at our Venture Venus Page for more information on all thing Venus!
